There is a distinct kind of reverence that lives in the world of collectors—the way they lift a box, the way their eyes trace the silhouette of a prized model, the way they speak about their pieces not as objects but as stories. Collecting isn’t a pastime. It’s an intimate ritual of choosing, caring, and cherishing.

This home was imagined in that spirit.

A home shaped by devotion, curation, and the quiet poetry of collecting.

It is a sanctuary shaped by a designer from Lime3 Group, someone who understood—instantly and deeply—what it means to live among things you love. He, too, comes from this world. He knows the anticipation of a new release, the pride of owning rare models, the desire to give each piece the dignity of space and light.

So this project began not with floor plans, but with empathy. Not with materials, but with meaning.

A Museum-Like Gallery for a Collector’s Heart

The soul of this 4-room flat lives behind a glass-enclosed cabinet—custom built, double-sided, luminous. It stands where a wall once blocked light and possibility. The designer proposed hacking that wall, not just to enlarge the dining area, but to create a clear stage for the homeowner’s cherished collection.

Because this homeowner is not a casual buyer. He is a collector in the truest sense—someone who treasures these Gundam models as art.

The cabinet was meticulously designed like a museum vitrine: sleek, dramatic, outlined in shadows and light. Dark walnut tones frame each shelf, allowing the models to glow as though they exist in suspended motion. The glass creates a sense of stillness, a gallery-like calm that elevates each piece to the status it deserves.

This is not storage. This is storytelling in three dimensions.

Designing for a Collection That Will Only Grow

Collectors don’t stop collecting—their world expands with every new discovery.

This shaped the home’s planning at every turn.

The designer didn’t just allocate display space for current pieces; he created hidden storage for future acquisitions, unopened boxes, seasonal rotations, and the inevitable evolution of the collection. It is a thoughtful, forward-looking approach meant to honour the homeowner’s lifestyle long beyond the handover of keys.

Even the architectural limitations became opportunities. Where the original layout offered no shoe storage, the designer responded by placing the fridge and shoe cabinet back-to-back—smart, seamless, and space-efficient. Nothing feels forced. Everything feels intentional.

An Emotional Dialogue Between Light and Shadow

In the early conversations, the palette hovered between two worlds:
A lighter wabi-sabi tonality, warm and airy, and a darker finish—more grounded, more soulful, more dramatic.

The homeowner gravitated towards the latter.

The final palette is rich and enigmatic, almost cinematic. Dark woods, microcement textures, sintered stone accents, and reflective glass merge into an atmosphere that feels both raw and refined. This darker wabi-sabi aesthetic holds a quiet power—it embraces imperfection, respects materiality, and celebrates depth over brightness.

It is a home that invites you to breathe more slowly. To pause. To look. And in that pause, the Gundam displays shine like celestial sculptures.

A Personal Dream—Realized for Someone Else

For the designer, this project carried more than professional responsibility—it carried personal longing. Designing a Gundam gallery had always been a private dream, one he imagined for himself someday. Creating it for someone else, someone who truly valued the pieces, brought both pressure and joy.

He held himself to higher standards—curating lighting, symmetry, proportions, and textures with extraordinary care. He wanted the gallery to feel dignified, almost sacred. A place where craftsmanship meets quiet awe.

That aspiration became the anchor of the entire home.

A Home That Evolves With Its Owners

Thoughtfulness extends beyond the display cabinet. Behind the open-concept room sits a space discreetly designed for future change—perfect for installing blinds should the couple welcome a newborn. Privacy can be created without losing the airiness of the current layout.

The home is prepared to adapt, the way all well-designed homes should. It supports the now while honouring the possibility of tomorrow.

Wabi-Sabi as the Foundation, Contemporary as the Future

Wabi-sabi has long celebrated warmth, grounding, and beautiful imperfection. But in this home, it meets a more contemporary spirit—glass, concealed lines, museum lighting, and a curated restraint. The result is layered, enduring, quietly luxurious.

It feels both ancient and futuristic. Both tactile and polished. Both personal and architectural.

In the End, This Is a Love Story

A home built around passion—not decoration. A gallery created for meaning—not display. A space that understands the heart of a collector—not just the needs of a homeowner.

In the soft glow of the cabinet lights, where shadows dance gently across the mecha forms, you feel something rare:

A home that doesn’t just showcase a collection.

A home that honours it.

A home that allows passion to take its rightful place at the centre of living.
