In the heart of an idyllic neighbourhood stands Burnfoot Terrace, a landmark of bespoke architecture and interior design by Metamorph Design. This full-rebuild landed project breathes new life into a cherished family home, expanding its horizons to accommodate the evolving needs of a family with grown children. The mastermind behind the architecture, Kavin, the Executive Creative Director of Metamorph Design, has skillfully sculpted a dwelling that harmonises conceptual forms with light, crafting an ambiance of modern luxury that is both sophisticated and intimate.
As one approaches the residence, the captivating facade presents a striking interplay of robust concrete and verdant greenery, a thoughtful design choice that softens the structural aesthetic while enhancing the building’s connection to nature. The prominent concrete wall, extending from the main entrance, acts as a bold statement piece, guiding visitors into the heart of the home. The innovative placement of the staircase at the facade serves a dual purpose, elegantly breaking the monotony of the frontage while functioning as a light well, illuminating the interior spaces of this 3.5-story home with natural light.
Inside the abode, the interior design of Burnfoot Terrace mirrors its architectural counterpart, encapsulating an ethos of understated modern luxury. Every room, every nook, is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, where bold, edgy design harmonises with practical elegance. The design narrative weaves a tale of subtlety and refinement, with a meticulous attention to detail ensuring every aspect of the home vibrates with the client’s unique preferences and lifestyle.

Bedok Studio Apartment
Nestled within Bedok’s serene neighbourhood, a studio apartment transforms into a masterpiece of design under the stewardship of Kavin Lee, the Creative Director at Metamorph Design.
This project, commissioned by a retired creative director with an extensive background in design and architecture, began as a modest endeavour to imbue the space with Japanese-inspired aesthetics. Yet, as the vision unfolded, it matured into an elaborate and refined sanctuary, meticulously crafted with an investment approaching a third of a million dollars. This evolution from a simple concept to a complex, detailed creation epitomises the blend of artistic ambition and disciplined execution.
The client, residing thousands of miles away, commended the Metamorph Design team – Kavin, JX, and Andy – for their exceptional work on a challenging project managed remotely. Despite occasional differences in opinion, the team’s collaboration and commitment to quality resulted in a successful execution that met the client’s expectations 95% of the time. The project’s innovative concept, rarely seen in Singapore, was compared favourably to the work of Pritzker Prize-winning architects and top developers. The client unequivocally praised Metamorph Design for their professionalism and responsibility, placing them on par with industry leaders and confidently recommending their services.
The design’s essence lay in its attention to minute details, demanding perfection in every finish. The entry point, a crucial transition area into the living space, was masterfully separated by sliding vertices incorporating two exquisite Kumiko panels imported from Japan. A standout element is the full floating granite-clad feature wall, forming the backdrop of the living space. This wall cleverly conceals entries to the bathroom and kitchen, with ash veneer crafted fluted vertices, blending functionality with aesthetic grace.
The sleeping area, raised on a platform, is meticulously designed to accommodate tatami mats, with a suspended gold leaves storage area for futon, marrying traditional elements with modern design sensibilities. The kitchen and bathroom, set in stark contrast with deep grey tones, resonate with a hidden, modern Japanese touch, adding depth and character to the space. Notably, the Philippe Stark ED Archer chair and Carlo Mollino’s Royal table, specific pieces brought back from Japan, integrate seamlessly, enhancing the overall design narrative.
Metamorph Design’s accomplishment here is not merely a testament to their design prowess but a reflection of their ability to empathise, adapt, and realise a vision deeply personal to the client. The residence is a testament to the power of detailed craftsmanship and collaborative spirit in bringing a unique vision to life.
